About Adult Basic Education
Strengthen your educational foundation and become more confident in reading, writing, and math with Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes. Basic Education classes are designed to help you better use reading, writing, and math in real life situations. Whether you’re looking for a better job or you’d like to help your children with homework Basic Education classes can help upgrade your skills.
Who are these classes for?
What will you learn?
Classes are geared for adults learning at 1st to 8th-grade levels or 9th to 12th-grade levels. Often students begin with English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and move on to Basic Education classes to sharpen their skills in reading, writing, and math. Once students feel confident in their skills they can take GED classes to earn their high school diploma.

Community Bridges - La Manzana and Live Oak Community Resources
Community Bridges staff build a warm, friendly, safe place for the community to access resources that offer stability and hope for the future. La Manzana and Live Oak Community Resources is part of the Community Bridges family.

Senderos is a multi-service nonprofit creating successful pathways for the Latino community of Santa Cruz County and building cross-cultural connections locally and abroad. Cabrillo College offers basic education math courses to prepare them for the classroom or the workplace. By completing a three-course series, students can receive a Basic Math Certificate and will be prepared for higher level math skills and for-credit courses at Cabrillo. Obtaining both certificates meets the prerequisite for Math 154 Elementary Algebra! Learn more about how to move from non-credit to credit math courses by meeting with a Cabrillo counselor.
